Rochester Conservatory of Dance fosters a tolerant and accepting artistic forum for students to express themselves through the art of dance. RCD offers small class sizes to provide the individual attention every student deserves.
RCD believes that the training received inside the studio, extends far beyond the walls of the classroom. The education provided at RCD encourages discipline, responsibility, teamwork, confidence, and an over all healthy lifestyle. We believe that anyone can dance. All levels and abilities are welcome. We believe in meeting the students where they are to help them grow on a personal level, while helping them work together as a team to accomplish group goals. Most of all, we believe that dance is about having fun!
Miss Alana (Uh-lane-uh) Batrowny Jackson is the owner and Artistic Director of Rochester Conservatory of Dance (RCD), and Tiny Talents Pre-School Dance Program. Her passion is to provide a welcoming, accepting environment for children and adults to learn, grow, and develop through the art of dance.
Miss Alana is an Alumni of Roberts Wesleyan College where she studied English, Early Childhood and Adolescent Education. Miss Alana also studied at The University of the arts (Philadelphia, PA) where she majored in Dance Performance on a Promising Artist Scholarship. She holds certifications in Reinforced Motor Function, Progressing Ballet Technique and is a member of the International Dance Acclaim. She has been a Member of the United States Dance Team and The International Dance Organization, and was awarded the Silver Medal for Adult Formation at the 2005 World Ballet and Modern Dance Championships.
Miss Alana has a passion for teaching dancers of all ages and abilities. She believes that the skills they learn in the dance studio carry with them into life. Miss Alana has had the pleasure of teaching hundreds of children for over 13 years, seven of that as owner of Rochester Conservatory of Dance.
She has directed, choreographed, and assisted in directing in over 18 full-length productions. Miss Alana has choreographed for Rochester City School District, Geneseo Community Theater, and York Central School District. Some of her most notable performances have been TedX 2013, Fringe Festival 2016, and Vision of Sound 2018. Alana also danced and co-directed in Flower City Ballet’s The Nutcracker from 2011-2016, as well as in over 12 performances as a member of One Dance Co 2011-2016.
She is honored to use her education and experience to provide a loving and welcoming, family friendly environment, where children and families can come together to learn morethan dance!

Miss Amanda Turk began teaching at RCD in the Fall of 2015. When she is not teaching dance, she works as Child Care Associate in the Greece Central School District. Miss Amanda love teaching students of all ages and abilities!
Miss Amanda started her training at Dance Dimensions by Susan in 2003, studying Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Hip Hop. She competed regionally and nationally with solos and group dances, as well as performing in yearly recitals. Miss Amanda later began studying at Hochstein School of Music and Dance, where she discovered her love for classical ballet and pointe technique. In 2013, Miss Amanda won the Hochstein Dance Student Scholarship and became part of the Senior Performance Ensemble.
Upon graduation Miss Amanda performed with One Dance Company, performances include “The Spectral Carnival” in 2014, hosted by The Yards Art Collective. Miss Amanda directed the dance performance for “The Spectral Carnival” in 2015, 2016. She also performed in Flower City Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” in 2015. Most recently, she performed with Rochester Dance Theatre (formerly Flower City Ballet) in their rendition of “Carnival of the Animals”, and a modern production titled “The Shell” in May of 2018.
Miss Amanda’s favorite styles of dance are Jazz, Contemporary, and Ballet.
Miss Tammi Colombo is so happy to be a part of the RCD Family! Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, Tammi graduated from Southern Utah University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre and a minor in Dance Performance.
At SUU, she took on such roles as Elizabeth Proctor (The Crucible), Mimi Marquez (RENT), Marcy Park (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), and many others. Regionally, she has appeared at the Utah Shakespeare Festival (Henry V, The Three Musketeers), and wearing many hats at the Neil Simon Festival as Actor (Brooke/Vicki-Noises Off, Philia-A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum), Stage Manager, and Company Manager.
Miss Tammi grew up studying several styles of dance & music including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theater, and Voice. She was also the assistant chorographer and dance captain for many college productions. On top of being a talented performer, and experienced stage manager, Miss Tammi also worked in the SUU Costume shop as a stitcher, making costumes!
Miss Tammi is excited to bring her knowledge and experience to the dancers at RCD!
Miss Alanna (Uh-Lahn-Uh) Ackert is a native of Rochester, NY, and a Graduate of SUNY The College at Brockport receiving two Bachelors Degrees in both Dance and Recreational Therapy. While at Brockport, she was elected Captain of the Dance Team for the 2015-2016 season.
Miss Alanna spent fifteen years studying Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Musical Theater, among other styles, at the Marilyn Schneider School of Dance. She spent nine of those years dancing competitively, and has won numerous awards and scholarships at both the regional and national level.
After completing college, Miss Alanna performed with Emily Copeland Dance in Kingston, NY, and has also enjoyed substitute teaching in the Rochester area. Most recently, Miss Alanna worked in a special education classroom, and has also been a camp counselor for the past eight summers. She loves working with children of all abilities in many different capacities, and is excited to begin her first year of teaching dance at RCD!
Miss Jennie has been dancing since the age of five. In high school she was awarded the Livingston County Scholarship of the Arts enabling her to attend SUNY Geneseo classes while still in HS. Miss Jennie went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a minor in dance. After college she studied with Ballet Magnificat in Jackson, MS. Professionally she has taught at dance studios in the Rochester/Buffalo area. Directed, taught and choreographed for the dance ministries of Elim Bible college and local churches. Dance director for Avon central schools Middle/High and Summer theater productions. Miss Jennie is trilled to be a part of The Rochester Conservatory of Dance in the Tiny Talents program.
